What can you say about Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?

The Onion runs satire articles insinuating Fox News will create a new channel solely dedicated to covering Ocasio-Cortez.

Ocasio-Cortez said today, “Dude, you’re all out of bullets, you’re all out of bombs, you’re all out of all this stuff. What have you got left? I’m six days into the term, and you already used all your ammo. So enjoy being exhausted for the next two years while we run train on the progressive agenda.”

Today it was also announced that she would lead a workshop for Democrats in congress, instructing them on social media – a skill at which she is extraordinarily adept.

Yesterday on Twitter she pounced on former Governor Scott Walker over his mistake in describing marginal tax rates.

She is a social media savant.

Her college dance video was showered with endless praise and endless condemnation.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is cute, personable, relatable, and extraordinarily sharp as long as the requirement to be sharp does not exceed 140 characters.

She dances really well.

After that, it gets iffy quickly. When ask how she would pay for her ‘Medicare for All’ plan, she responded “Just pay for it.”

That signified that either she has not put any thought into the matter or that she knows that an honest answer would be political death.

When ask about her repeated factual errors, Ocasio-Cortez replied, “If people want to really blow up one figure here or one word there, I would argue that they’re missing the forest for the trees. I think that there’s a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.”

The obvious follow up question would have been to ask how is it possible to be morally correct if the facts that you base that morality on are not true? Unfortunately that question was never ask. It would have been educational for all of us.

Not all of her fellow Democrats are particularly overjoyed with her approach. Democratic Senator Chris Coons remarked about the socialists that have joined the Democrat ranks in congress, “If the next two years is just a race to offer increasingly unrealistic proposals, it’ll be difficult for us to make a credible case we should be allowed to govern again.”

The sad reality is that behind the cuteness and dancing and relatability and social media acumen is nothing more than retread ideas the New Left first put out in the public domain in the 1960’s. It would be regretful enough if Ocasio-Cortez was simply repeating old ideas, but the specific old ideas she repeats have already been intellectually and morally destroyed decade after decade. They are truly horrific ideas that, if they were adopted, were faithfully deliver misery, poverty and death.

The true mystery in all this is that, while the GOP may not have been very good at very much the last thirty years, they were consistently good at exposing why the socialist policies that Ocasio-Cortez promotes are a disaster. So far conservatives have been focused on criticizing her personally rather than exposing how horrific her ideas are. This is truly an awful path for Republicans to take in an era where her attractiveness, personality and social media shrewdness are of more value to a large segment of the population than the shallowness of her ideas and willingness to make up facts is a detriment. Republicans have tended to treat Ocasio-Cortez as a child, a role she plays to the hilt until she drops the guillotine on them and reminds them that she is a congresswoman not a child and treating her as such demonstrates how out of touch Republicans are. It is a lethal tactic she employs in full view of the media. Republicans fall for this trap daily. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me?

Apparently members of the GOP have neither shame nor a logical end to the number of times that they enter this trap. It would appear Republicans run toward this trap with bated breath.

Tom Perez, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, has declared that Ocasio-Cortez is the “future of the party.”

Ocasio-Cortez has made clear that she is in Washington to make war on the Republicans and her fellow Democrats alike. Her motto appears to be Socialism or Bust.

At the end of the day, I suspect it will be bust.

For good reasons that have nothing to do with dancing.
