ALCOA MAN ARRESTED AS A RESULT OF A SEARCH WARRANT

MARYVILLE, TENNESSEE – Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong said a 45-year-old Alcoa man was taken into custody following a search warrant executed by agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force at his residence this morning.

As a result of today’s search warrant, Drug Task Force agents charged Anthony Earl Shannon, 45, of West Fulton Street, Alcoa, with five counts of delivery of a Schedule I controlled substance (heroin) in a drug free zone, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance for resale (heroin) in a drug free zone, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (200 mg morphine tablets) for resale in a drug free zone. Shannon is being held in the Blount County Correctional Facility on bonds totaling $175,000 pending a hearing in Blount County General Sessions Court at 9 a.m. February 13, 2019.

Agents with the Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force, assisted by members of the Sheriff’s Office SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team and the Alcoa Police Department executed the search warrant as the result of a lengthy investigation regarding illegal drug activity involving Anthony Earl Shannon. Agents seized 5.3 grams of heroin and 173 morphine tablets (200 mg tablets).

The Fifth Judicial Drug Task Force is comprised of deputies and officers with Blount County Sheriff’s Office, Alcoa Police Department, and Maryville Police Department.
