5/29/19 Just before Noon. Officer Jeremiah Johnson (J.J.) is on duty. As most of you know, J.J. is always on duty. He eats, sleeps and dreams police work. Always, prepared, always sharp, always on edge awaiting the advent of the bad guy. A true police officer if there ever was one.
J.J. finds Mr. Justin Phelps at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Store (Free Advertising) in the boro. J.J. arrests Mr. Phelps on 8 counts of writing bad checks as well as a couple counts of crooked (false) returns. None of the checks were over 50 bucks (SMH). Needless to say, no good Boro story ends with just one or two charges. Mr. Phelps also had methamphetamine on his person as well as some sort of big orange strip drug that I can’t spell.
Mr. Phelps was taken down to the city of Pineville where they got liquor stores, and now own a hospital, to be lodged in the Bell County Lay Over for Bad Check Writers with drugs. Mr. Phelps has a 1200.00 “Cash” bond listed on one charge and none on the rest. It’s not Mr. Phelps’ first time at the Ferguson Ranch, his past charges include:
Bench Warrant X1
Non-Payment of fines X1 (I guess he didn’t want to write a check).
Let this be a lesson or two to all of you:
1. Just because you have checks don’t mean you have money in the bank.
2. NEVER !!! take your drugs with you when writing a bad check.
3. If you are going to write a bad check write it for a lot.
Once again, J.J. has protected the businesses of the city from someone that has no issue writing bad checks. He has also protected the citizens from those that would be walking around messed up on drugs. I’d call that a good days work for our hero.
Thank You J.J.
