A known felon is pulled from the lake and taken into custody.

Sheriff Robbie K. Goins states that a known felon is in custody tonight. Charles E. Bondy Jr. 09/15/1971 was apprehended by deputies of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 11 P.M. on Tuesday night March 12th 2019 on Lake Rd. in the Vasper community. Campbell County Deputy Courtney Charles located a suspicious vehicle parked at the end of Lake Rd. in the Vasper community and upon checking the vehicle she found it occupied by two subjects and as her investigation progressed Charles E. Bondy Jr. fled on foot after a brief foot chase Deputy Charles got hands on the subject and he began to drag her down the lake bank and as he broke free he went into the water. As other deputies began to arrive to assist Deputy Charles in the location of the subject, Deputy John Minor got visual on the subject still in the lake holding on to a root approximately one hour after he initially fled. Deputies were then lowered over the bank by rope to affect the arrest and began giving verbal commands in which the suspect refused to comply with. Rescue squad arrived and assisted the deputies with transportation of the suspect back to land, where Charles E. Bondy Jr. was taken into custody and transported to the Tennova Medical Center and was medically cleared. He has been booked in the Campbell County Jail and is facing charges of, public intoxication, resist-stop-frisk-halt, disorderly conduct and criminal impersonation. Bondy is a wanted felon out of Union County and is also being held for the Union County Sheriff.
