KNOX COUNTY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

On Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at approximately 1:00 am Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst conducted a traffic stop on Highway 3085 in Flat Lick. While checking a female passenger, Deputy Ashurst observed a syringe and a set of digital scales inside the vehicle.

Deputy Ashurst also located a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, another syringe, another set of scales and over $200 in cash. During the arrest the female gave Deputy Ashurst a false name and date of birth.

Deputy Ashurst was able to identify her as Brittanie Akers age 29 of Pineville, KY. She was charged with Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree, Possession of Controlled Substance-1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Giving Officer False Identifying Information.

Brittanie Akers was also wanted on a Knox County Indictment Warrant for Trafficking in Controlled Substance-1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Persistent Felony Offender I.

She was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.
