Storm takes life of Murfreesboro woman

Community volunteer Angie Walker, 41, of Midland Road died early Tuesday morning when a storm collapsed her house.

Two other people were injured when the storm destroyed a mobile home.

The storm, heavily damaged another home along with roofs and barns.

Emergency personnel responded about 12:15 to the Christiana area for the storm. Emergency Medical Services paramedics treated the victims. They were transported to St. Thomas Rutherford.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Cooperative crews are replacing lines and utility poles in the community, especially on Rock Springs Midland Road. The work is expected to be completed today.

Insurance adjusters and construction crews waiting to repair the damage are asked to stage at Christiana Elementary School to be escorted by deputies to the impacted areas.

Agencies responding included Sheriff’s Office, Rutherford County Fire Rescue Department, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, La Vergne Fire Department, Christiana, Kittrell, Lascassas and Fosterville Volunteer Fire Departments, Rutherford County Emergency Management Agency, Murfreesboro Police Department, Tennessee Highway Patrol and Rutherford County Highway Department.

Also, thank you to Miller’s Grocery and community residents who brought lunch, water and snacks to the emergency responders still out in Midland and Christiana.
