On 8/30/18 around 5 p.m. Sgt. Barry Cowan initiated a traffic stop on a 2001 Green VW. Upon approaching the vehicle a “strong smell of marijuana” came forth. The front and back passengers immediately began to “reach around their waistbands” and “their packs next to them”. Located in the floor board where the front passenger was seated was a large plastic baggie containing 9 grams of methamphetamine. 2 baggies of marijuana and other empty plastic baggies. The front passenger also had on his person 2 containers of suboxone and 2.5 grams of meth, 1 needle and 535 dollars in cash (different denominations).
Mr. David Divine aged 32 of Tazewell Tn. was charged with:
Trafficking in controlled substance 1st degree, 1st offence (methanphetamine)
Trafficking in controlled substance 2nd degree, 1st offence (drug unspecified)
Trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 oz) 1st offence
Bench Warrant for FTA on PC on 7/12/18
Mr. Divine is currently lodged in the Bell County Detention Center. No bond is listed.
