TDOT Help Truck Operator Struck By Vehicle While Attempting To Stop Traffic

On Friday, January 4, 2019, at about 5:22 p.m., a TDOT Help Truck Operator was struck by a motorist while attempting to stop traffic on the ramp to I-40W from Bridgewater Road. The Operator had stopped to assist a driver who was having mechanical difficulties with their vehicle. As he was stopping the traffic on the ramp to help move that vehicle off of the Interstate he was struck by another vehicle traveling from the ramp to the interstate. Luckily the Operator only received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Heavy rain and congested traffic were contributing factors in this incident.

We thank our TDOT Help Truck Operators for the job they do and wish a speedy and full recovery to the Operator injured this afternoon.

Please always slow down and pay extra special attention anytime you see flashing lights on the roadside.
